Aurea Jane De Leon, CHES
NJ SOPHE history: Aurea has been a member of NJ SOPHE since 2015. She soon joined the Job Bank Committee and became co-chair in 2018.
Bio: Aurea received a B.S. in Public Heath with a concentration in Health Education from William Paterson University in 2017.
Aurea began her Public Health career at William Paterson University where she executed outreach programming and educational workshops to encourage college students to make safer and healthier decisions. She also worked part-time as a Research Assistant for United for Prevention in Passaic County, and soon joined their executive board as the Youth Coordinator. There she implemented health promotion campaigns and substance abuse prevention programs throughout the county. She also participated in conducting environmental scans to Passaic County’s off-premise liquor store establishments. Aurea also completed a semester long internship at the Clifton Health Department where she assisted in developing their Emergency Preparedness plans. After graduating, she worked with the Bloomfield Health Department and oversaw the town’s healthy corner store initiative.
Currently, Aurea is serving as the Health Educator to four health departments within Passaic County in contract with Chilton Medical Center. She plans, coordinates, and implements health programs, screenings, and education to the community.
