The Anna Skiff Memorial Scholarship Award, established in 1999, covers the registration cost of the CHES/MCHES examination. It is awarded to somebody whose scholarship, commitment, and demonstrated potential embodies the skills and competencies of the health education profession. This scholarship is awarded to a member who is a student or recent graduate, and who is eligible to sit for the CHES exam within a year of the award presentation. The Anna Skiff Memorial Scholarship Award represents NJSOPHE’s commitment to excellence in health education through academic preparation and credentialing. The NJSOPHE scholarship award was created and is given in memory of Anna Skiff, a founding member of NJSOPHE who contributed nationally to the development of health education as a profession. Anna enjoyed a long career with the US Public Health Service, after which she was instrumental in the development of the fieldwork component for the Graduate Program in Public Health at UMDNJ. She is credited as a key figure with the National Task Force on the Preparation and Practice of Health Educators, which led to the publication, “A Framework for the Development of Competency-Based Curricula for Entry Level Health Educators” and the formation of the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. (NCHEC). Criteria:
